Is Nigeria A Nation? – Femi Fani-Kayode

A renowned Nigerian politician, essayist, poet and lawyer Femi Fani-Kayode could not remained indifferent to the endless violence in the country and Boko Haram uprising in particular.


In his blog on PremiumTimes the former minister tried to find the answer to a symbolic question “Is Nigeria A Nation?”

The problem of integrity is getting more and more actual, especially ahead the 54th birthday of our country on October 1. Such factors as different self-awareness, religious features suggest different moods in the northern and southern Nigeria. These differences are compounded by the ever increasing terrorist activity of Boko Haram and the desire of this organization to split Nigeria.

First of all, FFK shows his respect for those soldiers who are struggling against Boko Haram in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa. However, he stresses that despite the admirable efforts of military personnel the Haramite infidels and barbarians have taken over the town of Gwoza, killed the Emir and established so-called ‘Islamic caliphate’ in the area. They have seceded from Nigeria and they are beheading Christians and southerners and all moderate northern Muslims that do not share their views.
This situation makes Femi Fani-Kayode wonder and he wants all the Nigerians to think on the questions below:
