When someone is rich and famous, no word could describe them other than ‘blessed’. Such is how American rapper, Big Sean, recently described himself in a tweet to his almost seven million fans last Sunday.

“I feel blessed! Straight up, straight up!” he wrote on Twitter. His fans favourited and retweeted the message over 5,000 times each.

Big Sean is the undeniable breakout star of 2011. With three number 1 singles featuring Nicki Minaj, Kanye West and Chris Brown, Big Sean’s career got off with a major bang. His debut album that year sold 378,000 copies, while digital downloads reached over four million.

That year alone, he earned $4m (N816m) from album sales, tours and endorsement deals. In 2012, he was featured in some albums with Kanye West, 2 Chainz and Pusha-T and became the brand ambassador for TISA clothing line. He also got paid $400,000 (N81.6m) to model Bathing Ape and Billionaire Boys Club.

In 2013, he had an even bigger year with the release of his album, Hall of Fame. The sophomore release debuted at number 1 on Billboard, selling 72,000 copies in its first week alone, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Big Sean is gearing up for the release of his new album, Dark Sky Paradise, on February 25, 2015. Currently, he is reportedly worth $8m (N1.6bn).

Sean Michael Leonard Anderson, popularly known as Big Sean, was born on March 25, 1988 in Santa Monica, California, but moved to Detroit, Michigan when he was three months old, where he was raised by his mother and grandmother.

He signed up with rapper, Kanye West’s GOOD Music in 2007, Def Jam Recordings in 2008, and Roc Nation in 2014. After releasing a number of mix tapes, he released his debut album, ‘Finally Famous’ in 2011. Big Sean,26, and his 22-year-old fiancee, Ariana Grande, an American singer, songwriter and actress, started dating about a year ago and made their red-carpet debut together recently at the Grammys — a statement that made Grande’s brother proud.

Her elder brother, Frankie, said his pop-star sister’s new beau fits in with the family “wonderfully.”

“He’s a great guy,” he said last Friday night at the Charlotte Ronson presentation at Lincoln Centre’s Pavilion. “He’s extremely normal.” “She was so wonderful and happy and they looked great together,” he said. “I was thrilled.”

Style and clothing

In late October 2008, Big Sean was featured in ‘The Source’ and he headlined the “Style” section of the magazine, where he talked about his personal style and stated that his favourite clothing brands were 10 Deep, Billionaire Boys Club, and Bape.

He posed in the Winter 2008 Billionaire Boys Club lookbook and is a consistent representative of TISA clothing and hats, along with Chris Brown and Tyga. He also has an endorsement deal with Adidas through which he released his own “Detroit Player” line of sneakers.

Big Sean among ‘Hip-Hop Cash Princes’

In 2014, Forbes wrote about a new generation of up-and-coming artists on their paths to financial success. They were tagged the ‘Hip-Hop Cash Princes.’ Big Sean made the list.

“These ten artists are the rising stars with the best chance of vaulting to the next level of commercial viability – and they’re the ones most likely to make the leap to the ‘Cash Kings’ list in the near future,” Forbes wrote.

A million-dollar house in Hollywood Hill

Big Sean recently shelled out $1.7m (N347m) for a freshly rehabilitated and residence in the Hollywood Hills.

The 45,000sq feet mansion really has an amazing description:

a low front wall, newly planted privet hedges, and a sliding electronic driveway gate define the tight, stamped concrete driveway that does double duty as an extremely low maintenance and water conserving all-concrete front yard.

Carved wood pillars and a shallow portico signify the entrance to the residence on its uppermost floor through double front doors that open to a foyer the size of a small living room.

Outdoor space is limited to the all stamped concrete front yard,driveway and a series of petite, slate-tiled and wrought iron railed balconies.

Big Sean’s cars

Aside a stylish Mini Cooper and other flashy cars, the rapper also has a Mercedes Benz S550 luxury sedan worth about $100,000 (N20m). The car delivers power, performance and safety in timeless style. The S550 sedan carries a V-8 engine and can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds.
