Jolie becomes Namibian citizen

Actress and humanitarian, Angelina Jolie will now take up citizenship of Namibia in order to use her recently bestowed honourary Damehood by Britain’s Queen Elizabeth in her Birthday Honours.

The American actress was told that she could not refer to herself as Dame Angelina Jolie unless she becomes a citizen of Namibia, which is part of the Commonwealth and she feels using the title would help with her charity work.

According to a source : ‘Angelina was blown away when she was made a Dame. She thinks it will add gravitas to her in her humanitarian work.’ ‘Gradually she will focus less on acting and more on world issues which will help to detract her Hollywood history.’

Recall that,Angelina already has a close relationship with Africa since she gave birth to eight-year-old daughter Shiloh  with fiancé Brad Pitt  in 2006.
